RE: Annual Report
The year 2004 was highly successful for the International Camelid Institute. The endowment fund value has grown to $348,224.99 (as of 1/31/05). The Emergency Alert System has enrolled 689 voluntary subscribers, and the camelidmed e-newsletter enrollment is up to 1025. The web site, www.icinfo.org, has been improved and updated regularly throughout the year and visits increased at a steady rate. Combined, these achievements indicate that awareness and utilization of ICI continues to spread. We are very happy to be able to provide this service to the camelid community.
Below is a brief account of the past year’s accomplishments, each item has been discussed more thoroughly in previous quarterly reports.
· ICI hosted the Camelid Health Conference at Ohio State University which was attended by 104 people and generated $6,200.00 for the endowment.
· Paul and Judy Doran acted as ICI ambassadors hosting a Luncheon with the Vets and raising $1,200 for the endowment.
· ICI made several articles available for re-publication on various topics including BSE, vaccinations, de-worming, grazing, and plasma transfusions.
· The ICI displays were taken to multiple events with various ICI ambassadors.
· ICI assisted a public lecture at the Ohio State Fair.
· The research database reached 1300 citations on the web page.
· A marketing and advertising plan was developed by Cynthia Rossi and the first of four advertisements was developed.
· The web site activity at www.icinfo.org showed a marked increase from April to December, with mild fluctuations. Annual visits to the web site numbered 4729 with 20118 page views. The page viewed most often, second to the home page, was the research library page.
Armed with final spending reports for 2004, a final expense report has been provided. Our budget was overspent by $611.93. The overage came from wages paid while expanding the research database. Total expense was expected to be $5,000, actual spending was $5,810.84.
We have made some necessary adjustments to the office to prevent overspending in 2005, and to cover the overage from 2004. ICI will have no trouble to stay within the budget for 2005.
ICI is pleased with its progress over the past year and a half, but we strive to do even better for the years to come. We will continue to offer consultation services, expand the research library, maintain the EAS and camelidmed e-newsletter, provide articles for publication, and update the webpage. The year 2005 will hopefully see the fruition of a solid marketing and advertising plan.
It is with great appreciation that we provide this annual report to AOBA, ARI, and ARF. Your financial support has made it possible to provide access to scientific information to all members of the camelid community. We continue to provide these services at no charge to the consumers in an effort to ensure the well being of all camelid species through education of their caregivers, and support of collaborative research endeavors. Please feel free to provide any comments that might continue to improve the International Camelid Institute.
Respectfully,
